Questions Re: Police Search

I'm trying to find out how they were able to get the gun from the car without a warrant...maybe someone else has more knowledge of this than me. But I found an account online (doesn't cite any sources, so who knows) that provides some details I hadn't heard before:

"The gun which was used to beat and murder Shepard, as well as being the suspected weapon on Morales, was found in McKinney's pick-up truck as were also found Matthew's credit card, coat and shoes. Shepards' wallet would later be discovered at McKinney's home wrapped in a dirty diaper in a garbage pail.
Officer Clint Waters, responding to a vandalism call, spotted Henderson and McKinney as they got out of a black pickup and crouched down. Waters turned on the patrol car's lights and the two men bolted in different directions. Waters tackled Henderson a half-block away when the young man was slowed by hedges in a back yard. Police said Waters found a bloody .357 Magnum in the back of the pick up and asked Henderson if it had been fired. According to police, Henderson lauged and said, "I guarantee you won't find anyone with a bullet in 'em." What police found was a badly beaten Shepard, who died five days later."

New Details Emerge in Shepard Case

This is from an article based on interviews 20/20 did with McKinney and Henderson in 2004. Really shocking. Definitely read the comments too. Some people back up what is expressed (that the crime had everything to do with drugs and little to do with Matt being gay, but that the defense decided to make that 'gay panic' their motive because they thought it would absolve them...)

New Details Emerge in Matthew Shepard Murder

Other comments totally decry the report, saying it's completely false and shoddy journalism. I think this is the kind of thing we could maybe include outside the theater? If we're going with the "outside forces coming into Laramie" idea.

Also this is a song about Matt with some video/audio of Laramie. It's not that great, but at 4:37, they shown something I haven't heard before.

A Website About the Events

Clearly someone's personally developed website that recounts the events and details surrounding the attack and death. Some pictures of people involved including Kristen Price and Bill McKinney.

Oh, Doc

"New Details Emerge in Matthew Shepard Murder" (Nov. 26, 2004)

This is the first thing that came up in a google search for "Doc O'Connor." And here is a wonderful little excerpt:

"O'Connor says he never heard McKinney express any anti-gay attitudes. In his interview with Vargas, O'Connor reveals his belief that McKinney is bisexual. "I know of an instance where he had a three-way, two guys and one gal," he said. "Because he did it with me."

O'Connor added, "I know he's bisexual. There ain't no doubt in my mind. He is bisexual." '

Gotta love Doc.

(Another article from Newsweek right after the murder. Doc says almost the exact same thing he says in the moment we read today...)
