Oh, Doc
"New Details Emerge in Matthew Shepard Murder" (Nov. 26, 2004)
This is the first thing that came up in a google search for "Doc O'Connor." And here is a wonderful little excerpt:
"O'Connor says he never heard McKinney express any anti-gay attitudes. In his interview with Vargas, O'Connor reveals his belief that McKinney is bisexual. "I know of an instance where he had a three-way, two guys and one gal," he said. "Because he did it with me."
O'Connor added, "I know he's bisexual. There ain't no doubt in my mind. He is bisexual." '
Gotta love Doc.
"Journey to a Hate Free Millenium"
This is a video that has some news footage of Matthew, Fred Phelps, the angels and other scenes from Laramie. It's from a documentary made by Brent Scarpo, who goes to schools and community centers with this film and speaks against hate crimes. Apparently you have to order the actual film, I can't find it in the library or in full on youtube.
Watch 1:06-2:25 for Matthew, 4:01-4:19 shows the angels.
"For the Bible Tells Me So" isn't fully on youtube anymore, unfortunately. But here's a clip.
This is the documentary Ethan mentioned on Fred Phelps, "The Most Hated Family in America."
AND finally, this is another documentary about Fred Phelps that I haven't watched yet, but it's on Netflix Instant, as well as clips on youtube, called "Fall from Grace."

And so it begins...
Dear lovely Laramie people,
This is our blog. Please post anything you find in your research that you want to be shared. I think this will be a great tool to keep discussion going outside of rehearsing and for compiling the copious amounts of information available to make our portrayal the most honest we can.
I'll start off.
This is a slideshow from the NY Times with recent pictures of some of our characters and of Matthew, the fence and the vigil.
And here is an article about the tenth anniversary edition and premiere, with some good quotes from our pal Moises.
Love,
Emily
